South Eastern branches achieve Bronze accreditation for the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS)

    9th September 2013

Nevill Long are pleased to announce that our Dagenham, Heston and Northampton branches have gained Bronze accreditation for the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS). Our aim is to be multi-site accredited within the year to ensure consistent best practice throughout the UK.

FORS is a funded, voluntary certification scheme aimed at ensuring that fleet operators work lawfully and to best practice by meeting the FORS standard. It aims to improve fleet activity in London, throughout the UK and beyond.

A successful bronze accreditation proves that our operation is being run safely, efficiently and in an environmentally sound manner.

Gaining FORS accreditation helps Dagenham, Heston and Northampton stand out from the crowd and prove to current and prospective customers that we are an operator that works to standards above the legal minimum. It will help to tender for business, improve safety, reduce the environmental impact and work related road risk.

On gaining the accreditation, Barbara Sudlow, Encon Group National Facilities Manager had the following to say; "We are delighted to achieve this accreditation within such a short time period which demonstrates that Nevill Long's policies and procedures are of a high standard. Recognising the challenges of deliveries in City centres, Nevill Long is fully committed to FORS which provides an improved platform to monitor, manage and encourage innovation within the Company.  Continued accreditation is retained by an assessment process with the Freight Transport Association and Transport for London working together, leading to continuous improvement in developing and implementing our working practices and people.

An area of high importance in road safety is vulnerable road users and we are proactively tackling this issue with a cycling safety awareness campaign and will be including Urban Driving, Vulnerable Road Users and Cyclists in our next Driver CPC modules.  In addition our delivery vehicles’ safety features are being constantly improved to maintain a heightened focus on road safety.  We look forward to keeping you posted on our development within the scheme.”
