New British Standard for drylining and plastering

    12th March 2012

Following the failure of Europe to harmonise European Standards for drylining and plastering, the UK has decided that a review of the current British Standard, BS 8212 code of practice for drylining and partitioning, should take place.

The code has not been updated since 1995 and is widely felt to be out of date.

Steve Halcrow, FPDC's technical consultant, said; "Work is due to start during the first half of this year and FPDC will be heavily involved to represent members.  Once work is under way we will keep members informed as to how things are progressing."

In a further development, following the suspension of the work on the European Standard France, Germany and the UK have decided to collaborate in producing a drylining guide based on the work done around harmonisation.

It is hoped that this will be available in all countries as an advisory document, although it will not have the status of a full Standard and will therefore not be mandatory.
